Mr. Ali Tuysuz opened his first book shop in 1966. The actual address is 58 Divanyolu Street. Galeri Kayseri specializes in English language books to satisfy the increasing numbers of foreign visitors to Istanbul and Turkey. While their second book shop opened across the road in August 2004. Accordingly these shops are now the best-known English book shops in Turkey because of their specialized collection of over 2000 titles.

This collection of books and photographs on Istanbul, Turkey, Islam, and the Ottoman empire includes history, art, and architecture. In addition other subjects include archaeology, politics, travel, Turkish cuisine, children’s books, contemporary and historical fiction, and much more.
My Favourite Purchases.
When I was there I bought two books; Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernieres. Significantly he also wrote Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. The second book I purchased was Istanbul The Imperial City by John Freely. As a result I strongly recommend you make an effort to read both of them.
